News Update August 31, 2007

 

New construction Pictures

 

We have recently begun construction to expand the territory of our Catteries out here at Woods. Thanks to the generous support of our community, we have been given the opportunity to increase the “territory” of our feline guests by 275%. Our cats will soon be able to enjoy a larger outside patio area, full of new perches and jungle gyms.

 

Also, this new expansion will allow for our dual catteries to be combined into one large area for all of our felines to have a better opportunity to stretch their legs.

It is our hope that the new cattery expansion will also assist in reducing the stress levels of the cats in our care.

 

We have also recently accepted a contract with San Luis Obispo County to provide $40,000 worth of spay and neuter surgeries to our partnered Animal Services Department.

There are still a lot of kittens entering our adoption program weekly, but fortunately, we will start to see a decline in our kitten population as we move into fall. Which will allow us to refocus our efforts into finding forever homes for the adult cats that call our shelter home. We also have a large assortment of dogs and puppies currently sheltered in our kennels. Please stop by the next time you are out and spend some time getting to know all the wonderful animals of Woods. If you are planning to come out and spend some time with the homeless animals, our dogs would really appreciate it if you could pick up a couple cans of canine wet food as we are always running out of the yummy gooey treats for the dogs.

 

Outreach Calendar

September 22nd
We will be spending the afternoon in Paso Robles at the Chumeia Vineyard to showcase our adoptable dogs while continuing our outreach above “The Grade”. Stop in for some amazing wine and share a little love with the homeless animals of the Central Coast.  Click here for more information about this event.

September 29th
Morro Bay Pups and Lemos Feed & Pet Supply have invited us to participate at their fundraiser for Morro Bay Pups. The purpose of this event is to showcase our adoptable animals and to spend time out in Morro Bay with the Dogs of Woods. The event will run from 10am-4pm and will be located at the Lemos in Morro Bay.

October 4th, 11th, & 18th
Our volunteers and outreach booth will be at the San Luis Obispo Farmers Market. Stop by and get to know more about our shelter and our upcoming Wiggle Waggle Walk-A-Thon. We will also be opening our bidding for our fundraiser’s silent auction packages along with the Great Pumpkin.

October 20th
Woods Humane Society proudly presents the 15th annual Wiggle Waggle Walk-A-Thon. Please Click Here for registration and event information.

November 3rd
Our loveable canines will be out and available for rent at the Aids Support Network’s “Walk for Life” at Santa Rosa Park.

December 1st
Stop in to Woods and help us celebrate our Holiday Open House. We will have complimentary cider and goodies, Santa Paws (have your animals picture taken with Santa), and spend some time with the homeless animals at Woods.

December 7th
Woods Humane Society will have our dogs and float in the 2007 San Luis Obispo Holiday Parade.
