While his wife worked most weekends, Executive Director Cory Karpin and his two children spent their Saturdays playing with the animals at Woods. Community Programs Director
Steve Kragenbrink joined Woods Humane Society in April of 2006. His main goals are to make Woods Humane Society synonymous with adopting a pet and to increase public awareness of animal overpopulation through Humane Education. more »

Susan Powell, DVM, PhD

Staff Veterinarian
Dr. Powell believes in offering the best medical and surgical care to our shelter dogs and cats and educating adopters so that they can make the best decisions for both their new pet and themselves. more »

Serena Martinez

Operations Director
Serena has a long history of taking in dogs who need extra love and attention and helping them successfully transition into forever homes. When she came to work at Woods Humane Society in June 2012, she was able to blend her personal commitment to improving the lives of animals with her professional life. more »

Heather S. Harris, DVM, MPVM

Contract Veterinarian
Dr. Harris is grateful to be able to help reduce the pet overpopulation problem in her community through the Woods spay/neuter program. She especially appreciates the ability to openly show her affection and compassion for her dog and cat patients, as compared with the hands-off approach of wildlife medicine. more »

Denise Reynolds and her family have been longtime supporters of Woods Humane Society. Having adopted three cats, a dog and fostered a couple kittens, Denise understands the importance of providing for homeless pets in San Luis Obispo County. more »
