ABOUT THIS YEAR'S CAMP

What does it mean to be kind to animals? How can we help homeless pets today and tomorrow? What kind of work happens at an animal shelter?

Spring Break Animal Camp addresses these questions and allows kids to have interactive, educational and service-oriented experiences to help the dogs and cats at Woods Humane Society, and to meet other kinds of animals through guest presentations. Each day of camp will provide a window into the world of shelter animals, rescued animals, wildlife conservation and animal care!

The daily schedule will include:

A Humane Education Lesson & Activity – Learn about important topics such as animal safety, body language, overpopulation, responsible pet care, and more, with a Woods canine or feline ambassador in the classroom!

Service & Socialization Work – Roll up your sleeves and help Woods care for homeless cats and dogs! We will learn how to care for pets by creating a comfortable habitat and enriching environment for them.

Lunch Break (lunch is not provided; please pack a lunch)

Game Time

A Guest Presentation (with animals!) – Hear about the animal rescue and rehabilitation work going on in San Luis Obispo County and learn about how to help! Guest organizations MAY include: SLO County Animal Services, Pacific Wildlife Care, Happy Hens, TOO SLO Turtle and Tortoise Rescue, SLO Buns, or other similar organizations.

Snack time (simple snacks will be provided; we can not guarantee snacks that meet dietary restrictions. Please pack a snack if your child has dietary restrictions.)

Kind Crafts for Critters – Get creative to make art, toys and treats for animals (your pets at home or animals in the shelter!)
