Welcome and thank you for your interest in Woods Humane Society and your desire to help the many homeless animals we care for each year. We are pleased that you have chosen to join our team. We have been serving the Central Coast since 1955, and our longevity Is largely the result of having volunteers like you!

Animal Care Assistant Volunteers

Objective: To assist the Woods staff in providing clean, healthy, and well-maintained housing for the shelter animals.

Duties: Feeding animals, putting out bedding, laundry, scooping waste, washing dishes, preparing treats, sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, and filling swimming pools.

Qualifications:

1. Must be 14 years of age
2. Must complete a Volunteer Application

Training:

1. Attend our Welcome Orientation
2. Continuous on the job training

Commitment: 2 days per month for 6 months

Supervision: Direct Supervision by the Director of Operations or Lead Animal Caregiver

Volunteers under 18 years of age

Must have a parent/guardian release form on file

Volunteers under 16 years of age

Must have a parent/guardian present to volunteer

Community Service Program

Woods Humane Society welcomes participants with both school and court requested community service hours to join us in helping to provide a premier level of care for the dogs and cats at Woods.
