Virtual Critter Camp


For Those Currently Enrolled in Grades 3rd-7th for School Year 2019-2020:

  • $60 per week, per household/screen
  • Unlike typical summers, Campers can sign up to participate in more than one week!

  • TWO daily LIVE virtual camp meet-ups via online conference platform (i.e. Zoom or Google Meet) including virtual furry-face-time, guest presentations, field trips, and pet-themed fun!
  • Daily at-home activities, including on-demand videos, downloadable activity sheets, and hands-on activities that can be done in your home & yard!
  • Exciting ways that campers can help Woods animals throughout the summer!

1. What are the age requirements for Virtual Critter Camp?

Virtual Critter Camp is for students currently enrolled in 3rd grade through 7th grade, for the 2019-2020 school year. (Virtual Family Critter Camp is for younger students, currently enrolled in Kindergarten through 2nd grade, to "attend" with a parent or guardian.) 

2. How do I register?

Registration for Critter Camp will be available online from this page or from our "Register for a Program" page. Spaces will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Regular Registration will open online at 9 a.m. on May 4, 2020. Online registration requires completion of all child, parent and emergency contact information forms, as well as payment. 

3. When is Critter Camp?

Virtual Critter Camp 2020 will run for the month of June, from the week of June 8th through the week of June 29. Virtual Live meet up times are subject to change; Recordings from each week will be available for campers to view at their own pace for that week of camp. The current plan:

  • Virtual Critter Camp: 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Virtual Family Camp: 2 p.m.

4. How many weeks can my child attend?

Families and campers can sign up for more than one week. There will be some repeated material, but we will do our best to make each week unique, with new animals, guests and subjects. 

5. What will my child do at virtual camp?

We will be using a virtual meeting platform such as Zoom or Google Meet for live camp meet-ups. Each week, Campers will have the opportunity to virtually meet animals; learn about animal safety, overpopulation, responsible pet care, and more; and help animals get adopted through art, fundraising, service projects and advocacy! Each day will include animal-inspired crafts, activities, and on-demand guest demonstrations and field trips.

Sample Day:

Morning Meet Up - Presentation and Group discussion of a pet welfare topic such as veterinary health, dog training, kitten care, etc.

Offline Challenge - An interactive challenge to take the lesson offline, at home, such as a scavenger hunt, an activity sheet, a creative project or craft. 

Afternoon Meet Up - Furry Face Time (meet an animal, or multiple animals) and follow up on the challenge. 

Afternoon Adoption Advocacy - Based on the animals we meet, there will be an afternoon opportunity to help, by either drawing a picture, making a poster, spreading the word, working on a service or fundraising challenge. 

7. What is the cost of the Camp?

$60 for Virtual Critter Camp, $25 for Virtual Family Critter Camp, per week

8. Are scholarships available?

We do have a limited number of partial, need-based scholarships available. To apply, please complete your child and parent information in the online registration forms (DO NOT complete product selection or payment). 9. Can I get on the wait list?

If there is no space left in the week of camp you would like to sign up for, you may sign up for the waitlist for that week. No payment will be required at that time. We will contact you if a space becomes available.

10. What is the cancellation policy?

A registration fee of Sixty ($60) is due at the time of registration. A reservation will not be made for your child if full payment is not received together with registration.  There will not be any reduction in fees or discount provided for any absence, delay, or early dismissal of your child.  There is a twenty-five percent (25%) non-refundable processing fee.  If you cancel your child’s enrollment up to two (2) weeks prior to the scheduled start of attendance in the Camp, you will be entitled to a refund of seventy-five percent (75%) of the registration fee.  If you cancel your child’s enrollment less than two (2) weeks and more than one (1) week prior to the scheduled start of attendance in the Camp, you will be entitled to a refund of fifty percent (50%) of the registration fee. There will not be a refund for cancellations made less than (1) week prior to the scheduled start of attendance.
